MEEN MOOLEE(FISH COCONUT CURRY)
A particularly delicious recipe, of fish in coconut-milk, popular in the south- western region of India.

INGREDIENT :
Haddock
- 1 kg
(cut into steaks)
Turmeric powder
- 5 gm.
Onions (sliced fine)
- 110 gm.
Green chilies
- 15 gm.
Ginger
- 5 gm.
Coconut-milk
- 120 ml.
(extracted from 3/4 of a coconut
soaked in 1 cup of water)
Ghee
(clarified butter) - 12.5 gm.
Lemon to taste

Salt to taste.

METHOD :
Wash fish steaks and pat them dry. Rub all over with salt and 1 tspn. turmeric. Heat the fish steaks in a large frying pan and fry lightly on both sides. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
In a pan add green chilies, crushed ginger and sliced onions. Fry till onions are golden brown. Stir in 4 tbspn. of the coconut-milk and cook for 1 min. Return fish steaks to the pan and pour the remaining coconut-milk over the steaks. Bring to boil, cover pan and reduce heat to low, allowing fish steaks to simmer for 10 mins. (or until cooked). Check sauce for seasoning . Serve hot with boiled rice.

Time taken -- 30 mins.
Serves -- 6.
